Thank you! I think it's a great idea but worry about the execution. These auction in general can be a nightmare. But I have faith in MAST.

Have no fear if all else fails it's free and we still have a coral show to count on besides I think MAST will do a good job we just hope the people bring coral to auction off if not I have a bunch and a few vendors are getting involved just for the fun of it

When will fish be involved? You consider a fish show? And add them to the auction? I have tuxedo urchin that I would like to part with.

Big Als involvement would be cool and any other store. Just dreaming I guess

I personally would never buy fish at a show.
You have to keep in mind that there's a ton of prep for vendors to go though. So most will bag everything the night before. So fish would probably be the same.
All that added stress of the fish being in the bag and not to mention transportation and adding them to a temp tank is too much street IMO.
Just my thoughts

There was a fish vendor at the London one once and it won't happen again. Some shops do pre sale on a few fish private sales though.

I remember that.

Just personal preference that I wouldn't buy fish at a show.

You're basically taking the vendors word that they literally didn't come in the day before. Too risky IMO

I for one have never bagged anything the night before. About a week before I put all things going to the swap on a racking that fits in bucket. (Made by JT acrylics) come the morning of, I remove racks with frags and stick in bucket.

The amount of time and effort put into these events by vendors is HUGE.

If nothing opens up, it makes a hard sell, so I keep things in my tank as long as possible to ensure a safe trip to the show :)

That vendor was definitely different then the rest. He is a wholesaler who imports to resell to stores.

Long story short, he's now back in his home country exporting fish/corals (I believe)

^^ by home country I by no means am trying to be racist as he could have been born in canada.

I guess you all are right saltwater fish are different then fresh. They're more expensive and sensitive.

I am working on the answers right now. I am typing it all up while having my coffee.

Everyone can bid, Mast will have bidding numbers for you at the door. If you don't plan on bidding, please don't take one!

To speed up registration (please help with this part!) There will be a sheet. If you fill in the area's for coral description (better description = more interested buyers!)

Payment will done after you are done buying. We will accept cash, and credit card (wallets everywhere just shivered!) There will be no runners. We will have the corals up by the auction area. When they are paid for, you will get them.

Please note; if you bring it in a zip lock bag, Mast will rebag it. This will cost the seller 1$ per bag. If your bag is leaking, we will also rebag it. Please make sure you take care of this coral, it needs to still maintain enough water to get it to its new home!!!!

The sellers will get %70 percent of the sale, the rest goes to the show/Mast.

We will be running it with the same software/setup that we use at our annual auction. It works great.

Thanks;
Jon
