Ato Pumps. What Does Everyone Use?

Just wondering what pumps everyone uses for their ato?

I've tried Toms aqua lifter, and it sucked. Burns out way too quickly.
My most recent pump was the Brs ato pump. Not their dosing pump, but the one with higher flow rate specifically for ato use. Came home today to that seeming like it's burnt out. Spins find when no hose in it. But even with a new hose. Doesn't turn and just gets hot.

I'm out of ideas here guys.

All suggestions are welcome.

Yes the whole unit is a bit expensive. As long as you keep controller out of the water they just keep going.

Pump replacement is inexpensive. (But you don't need to replace as they don't stop working from what I've seen.)

Mine did the same thing. Spins with no band on. I eat through ato pumps like it is going out of style.

I use a jebo/lifetech 1500, 5 years no trouble.
My only problem with using a submersible pump like that is when my ato shuts off. The water left in the line flushes back into my ato reservoir and mixes my kalk up again.

Maybe I can use a plastic container inside my reservoir so when it does back flush, it wont re mix my kalk again.

Just trying to figure out a solution. I'm a bit pissed as I purchased this pump from BRS in Feb of this year expecting to the final fix. At $100 CAD for it, I didn't think it would burn out in 8 months. Not a happy camper right now

didn't realize you were pumping kalk, prolly what failed the aqualifter and the peristaltic pumps, an impeller pump is prolly going to be your most reliable option.

Peristaltic pumps are supposed to be designed for it. Hence no moving parts that touch liquid.
My motor is toast. Seems like the gears inside shredded and won't spin with any resistance to it.

I looked on brs site. Apparently there is a 12 month warranty on it. So I emailed them. We'll see what happens. Might get the big FU since we're in canada.

Looks like I'll be grabbing a Toms for now till I get this crap sorted out.

Sorry for the rant guys. Been one of those days ya know? Looking forward to sitting in front of the tank. Then this crap. Guess that's life ;)

Gravity fed with .99 float, going strong since the tank started. I think @pulpfiction1 has an ato for sale, can't remember what brand, I wanted it, but the wife recently stumbled across my skimmer purchase amount and lost it lol. So limiting purchases atm.

Thanks.
I actually have a jbj ato. Just the pump is what failed.
I might have to set up the gravity ato. But I'm limited for space in my fish room and don't want to lose my work bench(only place I can have it gravity fed :(

Eric, why not use a check valve if you're worried about it flowing back?

Aside from that, I've had an Issue with my RODI with BRS, and they have been amazing. Paid for shipping back too. I have to pay upfront, and they credit it when I put the bill in the box and the receive it. Maybe he can chime in because that pump is a workhorse for people and it's pretty cheap.

I'm using a micro pump placed properly to have minimal back flow. ..I have a bit of remix...however not enough to cloud next ato top up.

I live on the edge and use a tunze ato but instead of the pump it shuts on and off a tunze solenoid in line directly from my rodi. The hose goes from that solenoid to the inlet on my kalk reactor then to the sump. Just a stupid question but have u checked that your hose on your ato has not clogged cause of the kalk? I have to clean mine every couple of months or else it clogs right shut.

I clean my hoses and pump with hot water and vinegar every four weeks.
