Did my monthly water testing yesterday and I am pleased with the results with the exception of my PH, its a bit low, 7.7 and I would like to raise it to 8.0- 8.3 but, I don't want to add chemicals to the tank and rock the boat..is there a natural way to do it.. thanks..

If everything else is testing ok. Don't even worry about the PH.

I've never once tested my pH in any of my reef tanks. NEVER!

ok guys, you have me totally confused, what would opening a window do...

Co2 lowers PH. So by opening a window and getting more fresh air to the tank will increase O2 and therefore in theory raise and stabilize PH better.

Some people will actually run the air supply line from their skimmer directly outside to help with that.

Yes and no. Like you I don't test PH.

But getting fresh air will raise it in theory. Having a light on 24/7 will also help.

If you are testing in the morning, test again after lights come on.

thanks, that makes sense, yes, I did my testing in the morning before the lights went on..just trying to make it perfect for my inhabitants...

To keep my PH stable, i run my tank lights during the day obviously and my sump / fuge lights all night.
Seems to work for me.
Anyone else do that?

Exactly what I do...except I do more of a day/late evening for lights to:

1. I'm at work during day
2. Hydro is cheaper after 7pm

Ya me too @unibob, my DT lights come on staggered, first set at 11am and all full at 12.
Off is reverse staring at 8pm.
My sump LED's on at 7pm off at 8am.

I dont run a sump light and my ph is always the same..maybe its because theres usually a fan running over the tank keeping the tank and lights cool, supplying it with fresh air?
