Its been a six month battle trying to get nitrates registering (safely ) im pretty well at the max im comfortable feeding.... gotta do a few extra blows and stuff for maintenance to stop any bad from happening... i up fuel slowly but only if cal mag and carbonate get consumed faster if not im at threshold and more fuel will be very bad lol. Im hoping target feeding helps if not im giving up on millies just stick to acros and my monties lmao.A passive approach would be move all your media into an old canister filter and change only half the media every month. This should add a little nutrients from the biological process going on in the canister.
I would be cautious using all that Fuel and food. That stuff is a double edged sword to use. Something will change one day in your tank and be right for a disaster. Everything builds up quickly with stuff like that and the tank crashes. I have seen it happen to a few people over the years.
I myself would look at other options instead of adding so much food into the tank. Have
the tank work for you. Have it produce the food and do your nutrient export for you. It will balance itself out.
I think as long as you're on top of water changes all the essential elements needed for millies should be available. I do know that they like high flow areas
Ya is my best guess since target feeding helped a bit. I want nitrates to register but is becoming impossible to attain safely. I already feed alot. If target feeding dont work im just gonna forget millies. I like my acros anyway lol.Maybe it is just the lack of nutrients in the water..
