Weird Snail Appendage And Possible Sponge Growth?

I have this weird stuff growing in my sump that I was hoping someone could identify. It has little tubes coming from it and is almost like cottonwool?? Only grows in the sump where there is no light.

And of course the snail appendage... he was knocking one of the smaller ones around with it. Knocked the other one on its back. Not sure whether by mistake or not. Is it what I think it is? It isn't the little feeler that they usually have sticking out the sand as that one was sticking out too.

Could be a Whelk, they are carnivores.

It is their mouth, it can extend quite Ling when needed. They syphon that sticks out is mostly for breathing when buried.
