I'm trying to look into getting an apex where can I purchase one if anybody sells them on here could you give me some pricing and wondering if it is possible to get the apex jr and just upgrade the power bar from the 4 plug to an 8 plug bar I seen there about 50$ difference in price from a 4 plug to a 8 plug so I was wondering if you can switch them out when you purchase the unit and other than ph what is going to be the difference at that point between the jr and normal apex don't realy need the ph

Keep the 4 and buy an 8. I have 3 8s with a total of 5 empty outlets lol.

Personally, I'd get the full apex. It's cheaper in the long run. Ph is valuable to know.

Before I bought my Apex I researched what others experienced on Reef Central. Consensus was to get the Apex Full. Not necessarily the Gold, but the Full was worth the extra money in expandability.
I ended up getting the Full. I am just scratching the surface of its capabilities but I love it! No regrets.

Is the full apex not the same as the jr just with the ph module and and an 8 outlet instead of a 4 ? So they would both be just as expandable corect to me from the looks of it a ph probe is the difference of 350$ if they are the same head unit? But I don't know much about them yet this is what I'm trying to figure out

BRS price for EB8 is $200

Apex Jr. has max capabilities for 5 modules. Full is capable of 240.

Also, I see no led dimming capabilities on the Jr. (But I am not experienced in Apex/led connections or capabilities other than to turn them on and off through my EB8. So I can't say if your lights would be fully controllable with the Full.)

I currently have an Auto Feeder, Leak Detection module, Vortechs connection (WXM), Breakout Box, PM2 module for salinity. And I only have a single 75g DT plus a QT, with no plans to upgrade my tank, in neither size nor number of tanks. I am 60+ years old and not adept at nor interested in exploring the full potential of the controller. I just want to simplify my tank maintenance and make it easier for us to go on vacations with the least amount of worrying while I am gone.

I have seen the system you are building, Matt. If I was your age (lol) and had the system you are building, I would not want to be limited in my controller's capabilities down the road.

No expert. Just my 2 cents...... Michelle

I did the same research before I bought. That's why I was able to give the info.
And some people try to tell you don't need the display unit. My experience is it is really helpful to have one and not a good way to try to save a few bucks. (Display unit comes with the Full but I have seen used units in the US selling without them for cheaper than the full unit.)
It's expensive, for sure. But I think you'll find it worth it every penny.

Don't they all come with the display ? See all I really wanted was the availability like yourself when I'm away and have a tank sitter that I know what's happening in my reef now all I needed as of now is light control temp controll because I don't trust my heaters lol and soft starts for the pumps maybe ad the auto top of function after as I already have an ati auto top off all the censor I don't realy care for I've only ever tested my water 1 time when the tank was new lol other than salinity I'm strongly believe in just a water change a week no dosing no chasing parameters but that's just my thoughts and it has worked for me just fine

I would not get the Jr it is not worth the money. Get the full Apex as Scalability is one of the reasons why you go with an Apex. You don't need the gold right away unless you want the most features right off. I didn't go with the gold i got the full apex with lab grade probes. Then as time went on I got other modules and powerbars to fit my needs.

They come with the display new but I wanted to let you know if you see something used without one, like I did. I have the display and find it worth the money.

I don't use my display often but if you can't connect over the network to your Apex you will wish you had it. Physical access is a must in some cases and it has saved me on a few occasions. If you see a used Apex for sale without one you can always just buy the display module on its own. I think they are around $150.

Used you have to ask yourself why are they selling it?!? Before you buy it. I didn't want to buy used so I went the new route. Best hardware purchase I have made in some time. The flexibility and scalability of this system is amazing. It is overwhelming at first till you get used to it and it is all set up. But that didn't take long to get used to it.

I'm trying to remember what I bought my Apex Jr for a few years back... I swear it was like $179(or less) brand new, without the screen. I got mine from Coral Reef Shop.

Since then, they(Neptune) seem to have jacked the price (over $300) and force you to buy the screen... I would no longer consider the Apex Jr a good deal at all.

My apex is in the basement (my display tank is on the main floor) so a display would have been a complete waste of money for me, especially when I always have my phone in my pocket anyway.
