I need some help, I have a mixed reef of lps and softs. I have 4 torches and two of them are having heads that are dying. They are on either end of the tank and at different heights. The other two are doing great along with all my other corals. My Parms are trate 10, phos 2.0 The rest are in the appropriate range. My question is will phos cause this to happen? Or do I have some sort of pest?

Would high cal and alk do it ? I never test them but just did for shits and giggles. Alk 11 and cal 500. If it would be the cause, How would I go about getting them down ?

thank you, as you well know I have my issues with tanks...how can you tell, by dipping it...
I really don't think it's bugs. I was only fooling. Your not getting my torches. Lol. It's either Parms or flow just not sure. I am going to cut the dead heads off tomorrow and try a different location. See what happens.

Bartie. I saw your tank. That test kit is toast. There is no way.

If your calcium and alk are like that it's too high. My black torch and octospawn have exploded since my alk came below 9. My calcium is still stupid at 480, but dropping. Check your mag.

Man that's gotta be frustrating. Last posts I saw you had some pretty high levels. I have no experience, but everything I've read says the API test kits are junk. Can't speak personally however. I read mostly good about Salifert so that's what I bought. I've tested me water other places, and seems consistent. I feel like I'd start there, and make sure you 100% have accurate numbers. I had a member come to my place with his water to check, maybe someone around you that can assist in a similar way?

Aside from that, when at BIGSHOWS, there were a few pieces that had some nasty little crabs in them, and they pulled them out to show us, and did say they can take down a torch quick. You able to pull it out and have a close inspection?
