Hello everyone picked up a Beaty flam bta from Kevin tran awesome piece ! But of corse like every anemone he moved on me from the place I wanted him to be but now he's upside down on a rock for the past atleast 12hrs (which is okayby me , kinda sucks hard to see him)
Would any of you flip the rock around so he gets light of wait for light to turn on to see his next move?

Can ont really see tips but he's really not in the light ( he moved when lights went out )

mine did the same thing when he went into the tank, he would come out when the lights were on and has now moved to were he is totally visible, his foot is still under the rock...he will come out for the light..

Is your clown hosting ( if you have them , what kind of clowns?)

Be patient with it. The more you mess with it. The more it will move around

Percula clowns have been bred in captivity for so many generations. That sometimes they just don't recognize it.
Some less popular clowns l, like skunks. Who haven't been bred in captivity as often or as long seem to go straight for it. My skunks certainly did. As soon as I put the anemone in the tank they went straight for it without any hesitation

That's amazing I didn't know ! Eric what do you think of this ? My clowns I had for over 2 years now and they did have a bta for 5 months the. They had none for 8 months , do you think a fih can forget like that? Or he and she just needs to warm up to it . Frig my copperband and hoevens wrasse seem to be more interested .. I hope they get stung and leave it be my lights just turned on so we will see

There's no "rule" to how long they can go with or without one.
Like most things in this hobby. Hit or miss.

I had a rose nem in my tank for close to a month before the clowns bothered with it. Nem never moved was in a hollow in a rock.
Now you can't get them out of it.
It's split in 3 and they take turns with them.
In my main the flame nem is constantly moving as I mess with the lights and flow. I have 4 clowns in that tank and none are interested in the nem.
Best be patient and let nature take its course.
Nems are awesome but frustrating.

I wouldn't be to worry if it upside down, I had one that was footed under a rock too and when light come one they are out and open big
As for if it host it or not like Eric mentioned is a hit and miss as captive breed clown fish.
I would wait and let the nem settle in first and try this( maybe it will work) remove what it hosting now and see if it will find something else to host. Oh I don't know maybe a flame anemone or just leave it to see if it warm up to the anemone

...however captive bred clowns will often be more likely to host in things commonly found in aquaria, where wild clowns can be very species specific for their homes.

Very true. But most captive breeding programs will only use a piece of ceramic for the parents to lay their eggs on for easy removal.

Absolutely, and likely why captive breds are much less particular about what they host. In the wild occelaris are carpet lovers...

Very true. And it's frustrating for hobbyists as they will likely choose a leather coral over an anemone

As Luke mentioned above that this clown had an anemone for 5 month. This clown knows anemone, it just not willing to leave their current home yet or dislike a upside down anemone lol

I have 3 clowns and 2 nems. E clowns won't touch the FBT even thou it was there longer. They like the one on the sand two in it constantly and sometimes they let the third join them for a sleep

Yes Kevin is right actually my display pic is my male clown him my old green bta, they loved it , I'll give it some time ,
I seen a video actually you can youtube it of people useing a spaghetti strainer ( if your tanks around 12" or so and has a tim like mine) you can leave it in the tank for a day or two with the anemone and clowns in there and they will become "buddys" and then put them back in and in theory they will begin hosting it , any thoughts ? ( this seems desprite)

Im kinda getting worried because the anemone is upside down and its. Tunnel that my wrasses and copperband like to swing though and they touch the anemone and I don't know if they would get stung ?
