Coral Line Question

I know everyones rock will turn "some sort of purple" and yes I know it's good , but is this a. Coincidence that the coral line that's on my frag plugs slows down the growth of my corals or even can make them do not so well?

I have no pests and 95% of my corals are doing very very well it's just the 5% that seem to have a lot of coral line , what is everyone's thoughs on this ? Maybe the same issue as me ?

I have never had coraline algae affect my corals. Is it happening to one particular type of corals? Is it perhaps something else like a placement issue? Wrong flow( too weak or strong ) or the wrong light levels ( too much, not enough ). Did they come from different lights as yours? T5 to LED or vise versa?
Could be a lot of different reasons.

Well my i have 2 main concerns , my Rastas and rustic reds they have slot of coral line on the frag plugs and my Rastas havnt been moved/ same light and flow for along time ,( I got them for Branford coral show last year) and within 3 weeks It went from 2 - 4 polops and now thrust won't spread :( and the rustic reds are really shrank and open but looks hurting but everything else is fine ( bta , favias , acans , hammer , flower pots, other zoos

Oh. Not growing is one thing but shrinking away is not good.
I am no expert on potential sickness and ailments of zoas and palys and really starting to learn myself.
Sounds like you may need a real experts advise. There are lots out there and I am sure someone will be able to nail it down for you.
Maybe @Shooter000 or @scubasteve could help you out?

zoas will kill off aproaching coraline using chemical warfare as the colony grows bigger you will notice the coraline usually dies that is too close. main cause for shriveling up is usually algae growing around the bottom or a bacterial infection. its very important to ensure all cut areas of zoas are covered with cg to minimize infection.

i would try dipping twice a week for a month to help rule out any pests. rastas are hard to keep long term and shrink away on alot of people.

Thankfully in the last 5 months none of the Rastas have closed up and I haven't touched them since I 1st put them in but the rustics idk I moved closer to bottom less light and flow , I have 2 wrasses and eat nudis and a copper band but I'll still do the dip to help I don't see any pox

@scubasteve , Just to help clarify for Luke, are referring to dipping in coral RX or a peroxide dip?
