I picked up some rock the other day, and it was dead and was tank used. I did a muriatic acid treatment on it, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

Check out the brown foam

give it a few months and that rock will be bacteria ridden live rock again.. until then it really will not assist in the ammonia cycle in the tank though. So its great if you add a couple pieces to an established tank.... starting a tank from scratch will take longer than most people have patience for.

I got it at Canadian tire. 12.99 for a gallon.

I used 1 box of baking soda per gallon to neutralize it. Came out awesome.

I have 1 shelf that won't even go in a 5 gallon pail lol. Sweet white shelf.

How did you mix it? Straight out of the bottle would just eat the rock wouldn't it? And how long did you leave it in the buckets?

I filled the container with water so it covered the rocks.

Poured it in.

Watched volcano.

20 minutes later it was still going slowly, so dumped in 4 boxes of baking soda to neutralize.
