After posting this for sell and have one sitting in my sump I got a couple red flag, few good member sending me pm to keep my eyes on it and corals. So instead of selling, I am returning it to living aquarium. I got a good deal for buying two for $130, but I could only fit one in my sump so thinking it was good deal so sharing with other members.

The Issues have never been substantiated like a lot of information in this hobby. Any media is going to trap detritus and potentially cause issues. That is why for many years any bio media was frowned upon. The aluminum claims are farcical at best and a few internet trolls posted that this element was leeching from the media. Some others like another product and believe it is the only product out there to have. Still others think that its a sponge and will harbour nasty harmful elements that unlike porous Live rock will not? I have no idea how a chemically inert substance can be worse than the composition of live rock? Ive even hear tell of a guy that makes his own live rock out of stuff and puts it in his tank!

I think you have to go by the old Ben Franklin Quote: “Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.”

For every one that says one thing, there is another claiming the opposite. Most of what I have read on these exact items says they do not have aluminum issues. I have had mine in since I first set my system up. Being new to the hobby, I cannot say what they are doing good or bad. However, I have had some issues with coral in my tank, but cannot say it is those. Going forward, I have a better sense of keeping the system stabilized, and the system is more established now so if things don't go well, I would suspect them further. I have ordered and am having sent away the Fauna Marin full test kit which does more than the Triton test kits. In a week or so, hopefully I will see full lab results. See what turns up there. If there is Aluminum in there in any relevant concentration, they will most certainly come out. I am switching from Red Sea Coral Pro to Fauna Marin salt so will do another of the same test in about 3 months to see any differences.

OK return one block done and as for me with one block. Today I am due for a water change and my system is fine with out it. My plan for water change later tonight is to move the marinepure down to my frag tank where I do very less water change lol. In their I don't have a lot of corals and I don't hear or read anything on marinepure affected the fish health and as for corals, I only hear it affected leather corals so I don't know?

There is a crazy amount of crap that builds up in bio media, even if you are using mechanical filtration. So the problem arrives when you let your maintenance slide. I'm sure as long as you are pulling the block out and flushing it with tank water every 6 months to a year you will never have a problem. The low flow in our sumps really helps the crap settle in the bottom and in the media. I put an air stone under my media and it really helps to keep stuff from settling in it, and there is a pile of black stuff that settles out of the media that I vacuum up a monthly. I would say that the bacteria living in the rock also produce some waste, because the black stuff doesn't look like carbon.

I run two block in my 400g system, i made sure to rinse and let my blocks soak in RO water for a week before I rinsed in again in saltwater then added to my tank. So far no negative side affects but no corals inn the tank yet either as it's new.

I've had the marine pure in my first tank over a year and have cleaned it every few months. I have siporax in the cube 4 litres. I bought the hype I have no idea if either one works or is harmful.

I asked others why they thought they need the product and what direct benefits they found by using it? No one had an answer. Maybe you good people could explain the reasons and benefits of products like these. The tests before and after and the results.

Simply massive surface area for for biological filtration. I use the balls, and each one is evidently equivalent to 240 Sqft of surface area. They are extremely porous as well. Basically does the same thing live rock does so it allows you to use less and still have the bio filtration.

But what impact or change in chemistry or effect does it have on your tank? They used to sell Marine Pure in fake live rock form on Reef supply.

The rule used to be 1lb+ for every gallon of water in your system. People would cram as much live rock in their tanks to make it as stable as possible. Coming out with a product like marine pure allows more of a minimalistic look inside tank, with the belief that marine pure is equivalent to a bunch of liverock. So now on a 100 gallon system you can get away with say 25-30 lbs of rock vs before if marine pure is used in sump.

Another option to achieve this is to break up liverock and stick it in sump. However marine pure is a lot easier to pull out and rinse if need be.
