Played around with the camera a bit last night...still a little blurry/grainy but I think that's bc I forgot to turn off the pumps.

The last canon camera we bought was 500 bucks and it will take better pictures than any camera in the newest of phones for half the price. What's the new galaxy going for these days. $1000 bucks unless your up for renewal on your contract.If only we all had your money there Aaron!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, lets not debate Android vs. iOS. It will be endless and useless. Done it before.
My conclusion... the best phone is the one that fits your needs.
From what I heard Google Pixel, Samsung (I guess the new one) and iPhone 7 plus, they all have excellent cameras.
Everyone needs to understand that taking pictures under aquarium lighting, screws up the auto white balance on any camera not just smartphones.
That is why most of the pictures you see posted are so blue or violet. You have no choice unless you change manually the white balance.
Now, the smartphones are shooting JPG and correcting the white balance before or after taking the shots has its limits, but it will improve your pictures. A better way to do it is to shoot raw (DNG) using the Lightroom app and modify the white balance before or after. Shooting raw, you have full control over many things, not just white balance. It's really easy to post-process. I know this works for iOS. When I have some time I'll try to take some pictures and post them here. I'm still playing and learning my new iPhone 7plus (just switched from Blackberry, and yes I was all android in the beginning - do not laugh)
Lightroom is also available for free for android.
Another free app for post-processing I recommend is Snapseed for both android and iOS.
Give it a try.

Before putting up some pictures, just wanted to mention that the problem is more complex then what I presented before, but I think it will be enough to get a bit better pictures with minimum effort.
All the pictures were taken with an iPhone 7plus through my dirty glass without turning off the powerheads and all the adjustments were done on the phone. Please excuse my dirty tank as I'm in the process of reviving it after almost 2 years with no skimmer, water change or feeding it. Auto top-off was adding normal water as my RO did not work for the last 6 months.
Picture 1: JPG directly off the camera with no adjustments, just reduced the size
Picture 2: taken using Lightroom in Raw (DNG), adjusted quickly the white balance and exported as JPG and reduced size. Still to much violet in the picture.
Picture 3: taken using Lightroom in Raw (DNG) with no adjustments, just exported as JPG and reduced size.

what light intensity you guys use to get these nice pictures? I set up mine high on Royal Blue only and when I tried to take picture with my Samsung S5 or Ipad mini 4, it looks washed out in blue and not clear.
