Mp10wqd Firmware Updates

I have acquired a used MP10wQD for my seahorse tank. When it powers up, the light breaths green as it should. Then I have to press and hold the Mode button to switch modes the first time. It goes to breathing White. I have to press and hold the Mode button again to get it to the different modes. At that point it switches modes with just a quick press. I think something is up, maybe a failed firmware update? I think the only way I can update is with a ReefLINK. Not sure if I can borrow someones to do this or if this is something that I need to purchase.

PS. these pumps are amazing. I wish I could come across 2 MP40wQD's at a reasonable price ($500/ea new is just insane) . I would sell a kidney. I had a MP10wES in the past and my wife complained when it got over 50% power. I can run this at 100% in any wave configuration and you have to put your ear to it to hear it.

Flashing white is feed mode apparently. Still weird that I have to put it into feed mode to switch modes. Or am I just not waiting long enough? Anyone using the QD?

I'm using the QD, also have a reeflink. I'll text you a photo of the setup guide I got with my mp10

That is what I thought. For some reason it doesn't like getting out of the default power up green color. Hrmmmm. Also, when feed mode stopped, it went to a different mode then what I had set :/

Something is wrong with the firmware for sure as you should be able to switch between mode quickly by each click of the mode button.

That is what I am thinking. But I do not know a lot about them. Other then they are dead quiet now. I may need to look into getting a ReefLINK, not sure if borrowing one would work.

Just got off the phone with support. Oddly enough they knew who I was by name when I gave them my email, customer account or mailing list i forgot about, caller display maybe? Either way, the breathing green is battery back up mode. They mentioned maybe it isn't getting enough power on start up and may be why it goes into feed mode okay, then from there after the power 'charges' enough. Either way, I will try a pump reset when I get home and go from there.

I had a weird issue like yours and I could only fix it with new firmware. But in your case a reset might work but i find it weird it thinks it has low power, to me that sounds like corrupt firmware with faulty instructions. If the reset doesn't work someone with a reef link would work. They just need to sync it to their profile, unplug all power heads of theirs so they don't mess with them and only yours, update yours and after just delete it from the profile. I ended up getting the reef link for cases like this. I ran mine without it for a long time but once i got one of the newer gens my older ones needed updating so they would sync together. So I picked up one.

Here are the reset options as if you are not familiar with the site it is a pain to find stuff sometimes. lol

Clear Driver Memory
-
Hold Mode and Set together until the control dial blinks red/white/blue. Then hold mode
until the dial blinks red/purple. Then hold Set until the pump resets.

Great advice. I will hopefully get to reset it this afternoon. If that didn't do it, I might see if I can hook up with @Deptron, I think he has a ReefLINK. I will add one to my shopping list down the road. Just realized I need 10 pails of BA boxing day salt to get me through next year :0

Sometimes when you reset the pump you might get a red blinking error on some of the older ones. That is the pump disconnect feature and if you need to you can disable it. I have had to do this on some of the older ones or I could not use the pump.

false-error. To perform this cancellation of the calibration process, follow this sequence of operations:
Go into Feed Mode by holding the Mode button for three seconds. Feed Mode is indicated by a
blinking white light.
Hold the motor in your hand, separate from the wet side. The motor will still be operating so hold it
carefully in a place far away from any magnetic material.
Hold Mode and Set. This LED knob will now change color from blinking white to blinking white and
yellow. This indicates that you have activated the calibration sequence.
Cycle power to the pump by unplugging it and re-plugging it in. The calibration has successfully
been cleared out and you will no longer get a false-error.

Oh and make sure to hard wire the reef link to avoid any firmware fails. Any hiccup in wifi or weak signal can brick the pump. I have not had issue updating firmware hardwired but i have seen it over wifi.

Reset did not work. Does anyone know the power brick information for these? Maybe he sent me the wrong one?

I tried one off my WP and everything works great. I guess that was the problem. Previous owner is looking for the right power supply.

Yes it is. Although it is a little louder now that it is running at full power, but still so much quieter then the old version.

Official answer has been recieved. A special thank you goes out to Ray at reefsupplies.ca for hooking me up with a contact to get thee information.<br /><br />The MP40wQD need a different power source due to the fact that there is an increase from 24v to 36v. The MP10WQD uses the same 24v as the original MP10wES. So a MP10WQD, a MP10WES, and the MP40wES can use the same power supply, 24v, but the MP40wQD needs the higher voltage.

I currently have a 24v 2.5A power supply running on it, so I should be good.
