I appreciate it. I honestly do. I wish I could have you next to me when doing this build it could save me a huge headache. Never thought of using a thin piece o steel... Kinda clever. If every one of my receptacles is gfi I'd like to think they would trip much like that of the ones in my bathroom. Good thing is there are only two receptacles On the adjacent wall. If you have any advice for me I'm all ears.

No worries, like I say it's the insurance companies I don't like.  They don't like to pay claims, and when they do, they want to make the job as cheap as possible (which you would think they would want it done the best they could...for safety!).

I know I had issues with GFCI's and the electrical inspectors.  If there's more than one on a circuit they count it as 'improper'.  As long as one is between the receptacle and the box, you're good.  Oh and they have to be tested once a month, the damn things fail a lot.  That said, they do work great.  I dropped a power bar into my sump about 4 years ago, and pop it went instantly.  Electrical was the only job I never did myself, always brought in an electrician.  Not because it's hard (they call it monkey wiring for a reason), it's because of all the little rules and regs they stick in there.  I could never keep up, and usually I never answered any client's questions about electrical beyond "yeah, we can run an outlet there".  I'll chisel up a basement no problem, but don't ask me to do any wiring :)
