3d Printed Frag Plugs

Going to try these printed frag plugs which are made to fit inside egg crate snuggly. Is snuggly even a word?

These are made with plastic that sinks as well so no concerns with your frag floating away.
When I frag some zoos soon I will give these a try and see how it works. I assume superglue will stick to it as a champ so I don't see the downside in trying

What kind of plastic? Just curious how you will know if it's safe for fish/corals

Really cool though seems nicer than ceramic

Need to 3D print live rock with a bunch of well placed female receptacles for these frag plugs. Then you can move the frags around when desired and you can swap out ones. They won't fall or move if you make them lockable. Then the 3D live rock should naturally pick up coralline algae.

Bam you have customized structures and movable frags.

Abs plastic
Next round will be purple corraline coloured to fit better into liverock.

I'll look into printing rock itself, maybe its possible in sections that are glued together

Abs plastics are fine. The pump casings and bulkheads and almost all plastic in equipment it abs.

Abs isn't recommended in plumbing due to the chance that it may be treated with an antibacterial additive since abs is used for drains.

That's my understanding anyways.

Maybe a vertical/ ladder like frag rack. That you can hang on the inside of the tank and frag plugs with tabs on them so you can raise and lower the frags on the ladder.

If it was made so you could stagger the frag plugs on the ladder at different heights?

Think of a stem of a plant/ ladder with the leaves representing the frag plugs.

If it was planted in the tanks gravel and the frag plugs could be spiraling around the ladder.

More frags in less space, allowing adjustable heights for the corals needs.

Probably really bad ideas

it does sound interesting, IMHO, I think that frag plugs are ugly and they are super hard to place on the rock, you could have something there..

Our ideas are clearly different I don't see the problem, your idea is a vertical frag rack and mine is a vertical rock wall. I don't understand the um you quoted me on

Hate to burst bubbles but there are others out there that thought of all of this stuff before we did....how do you think I did it
