Regular wood glue if its raw wood, pl premium if anything else.

Half inch should be good.

If you have "huge" gaps, you may need to rethink using the stand. But if its close, just not touching, the ply wood will do.

You can use a table saw and rip the boards on the top of the stand. The boards have rounded corners. Rip off about 3/16" which will make it square. Then plywood then foam.

Ok ok ya maybe I'll try that cut the rounded edges then plywood would it be a good idea to use something like liquid nail to kinda fill any gaps ?

The styro and ply will take care of it. Make sure the uprights aren't protruding from the bottom of the stand. I did that when I built my 150 stand lol. Had to take 1/4" off lol

I had the same issue with mine, cheap lumber is not completely dimensional so although you are meticulous with the build it will still come out off a bit. I ripped the entire top of my stand and redid it with lumber with better simetry, then threw a 3/4 thick plywood and styro on top just to be safe.

I guess it all depends on the gaps that your seeing though if it's small enough that only paper can fit through then Sure the plywood styro combo should solve it. However if it is more substantial personally I would redo the top just to be safe. IMO

I do sone furniture and cabinet making on the side. When it comes to using 2x4s or other dimensional construction grade you pretty much have to run them through a jointer and planer to get them square. A good alternative would be using d4s material from a lumber mill or buying the metal frames and attaching your wood faces to them. More expensive but you'll get better results with more reliability.
