Yes one of the bulk head was leaking but the problem has always been the threaded pipe fittings, so I'm gonna glue them and keep the Unions in place. All is well though I'll get it back together tomorrow,

What a waste of time. I glued all the fittings together except for where the unions are and it still leaks, it even leaks at the unions, oh well maybe i'll get someone in to do the job, i'm sick of this, good thing i don't have the cash to spend on the tank like i want to, You think I could get some quotes for someone to do it?

I think I will do away with the unions as well, so 4 new bulk heads, elbows, connectors and pipe, I tried to use the old stuff that I had but I guess that's just junk.

Hi Dave, 2 overflows, drilled in the bottom, 2 holes in each overflow, 1 for drain which is 1 1/2 and 1 for the return which is 1 inch, pretty basic, I'ver been trying to reuse the fittings that i have to save some cash, and that hasn't worked out too well. So i will get some new ones and then hopefully get some help with this Monster LOL

Can anyone tell me the way to apply the pipe dope? Do you wait before screwing it together? Do you kneed the tube before applying? Any suggestions

tube??
mine came in a can with a brush.

I was thinking the same thing. Mine was in a small grey can with a sponge like brush that is attached to the lid. It is grey and goopy with horrible fumes, did most of the gluing outside.

are you guys thinking pvc cement??
pipe dope is different, but similar containers.

im sure it is available in tubes, hell, pvc cement is too.  just depends on the quantity you want i suppose.

if its in a tube, i imagine working/kneeding the tube isnt a bad idea.. help mix it up a bit.  not sure if its necessary tho.
