Chemical warefare and 5 peppermint shrimp in a 30gal? You may not have any left to return for the little credit you would get back.

Good luck. I hope it works out better then I am imagining

I don't see the harms aiptasia x won't wipe out a tank, it barely kills aiptasia let alone inverts or fish.

More like 5 in a 30 gal will be hard to keep alive. Peppermint shrimps do not always even eat aiptasia, some have even had to be starved into it, some do not survive that method. Sometimes they will only eat the smaller ones and still leave the larger ones, it may not even be noticeable for a few days as they are nocturnal shrimp and will most likely only feed at night. To boot, that is even assuming that they were labelled correctly at the LFS and/or the supplier.

What I can say is that my Peppermint never ate a damn one that I could find. My filefish ate them all in a few days. My tank was strewn with them across the sandbed and several in the rocks. I was doing the boiling water method, which was great for the ones on the rock, but useless on the sandbed.

Again, good luck to ZAX, please always remember that some LFS' have the bottom line in mind. Good luck with the aiptasia, they are a pain in the ass to get rid of.

I've got 6 in a 15 gallon ... They do eat other food besides aiptasia. They are hit or miss with eating aiptasia.

That would be cool to see.

I am not saying they wont live, just not the best bang for the buck and he may have to starve them into eating aipstasia which is risky.

Wait...if you have 6 in a 15...why did you ask to use my filefish lol

update, started with probably 100 of them, now I can only count 8 left. Also was a bunch of little ones in the sand and don't see any in the sand now, haven't seen the shrimp eating them but I think they are. rocks look good now, finding all kinds of feather worms and stuff that I didn't even know was there.
