Ok. White vinegar? Or give them a little taste of the cider? Thanks for the tips guys. Going to try and keep my tank chemical free. But will look into the copper and too. How much will a bit of vinegar alter my ph?

I give him a small chunk of normal shrimp every other day. Such a range of advise on brittle stars online. He also likes the mysis i feed the clowns. Seems always hungry tho

the amount of vinegar that you will be using won't hurt your ph, just make sure that you get into the mouth, using a pipette works best..

I use the dropper from my refractor, works great. Slowly approach the head while it's open and just before you touch it quickly squeeze all the vinegar out while still moving forward onto the little bastard.....poof all gone, next. Hit a couple at a time, don't try to take em all on at once look up vinegar doseing and use that table of instructions for a max amount to use in your tank as a daily amount. My system can handle 60oz a day so I have no need to worry, but yours may be smaller and only able to handle 4oz I dunno?

It's a brittle (totally covered in spikes) not a green serpent right (bare with a couple rows of spines down the legs). Green serpents are hardcore predators that will eat sleeping fish...

Unfortunately my tank is too small for a butterfly. They do look cool. It is the brittle type I think. I'll post a better pic. It's too big for my tank too. So it and the two clowns are it for livestock for me until I can upgrade or add another tank. The starfish is an awesome creature tho. Been having fun watching him and the kids love him. Never seems to bother the clowns but has eaten both peppermint so I've introduced for aiptasia.

Thought so...that is the green serpent and they are cool, interesting and bad news predators. Virtually any other brittle or serpent would likely not bother even small shrimp. Your clowns should be ok as they will take turns sleeping and guarding their home even if they dont have an anemone. But those greens are only safe with larger fish and are predators first scavengers second and they will get HUGE!!!

I like them too but I have always had large systems with large fish. I learned the hard way not to trust them with smaller fish. BTW cool to watch them hunt...they arch themselves up on the roof of a cave structure in the evenings and wait for something to settle below them for the night....

Unbelievably complex behavior for such a simple creature.

Yes. Very interesting. He's probably over a foot but seems happy in my small tank. I kinda customized the rock set up for his cave. Although I was told he was mostly nocturnal. He is quite active during the day. As soon as food hits the water he comes for it and will wrap around your hand. Seems to not bother my limited selection of coral or the cuc. He is arched like that every night and for whatever reason the peppermints loved going underneath him.
