alkalinity and lighting

does it make sense that alk. drops while the lights are on.
I measure it early, before or just after the lights come on. Its not bad, usually around 8 or 9  dkh.
I just tested it, after the lights have been on for 8 hours, and it was 4.5 dkh.
I dose 2 part every day.

no lighting wont effect alk. your tank could be using up that much a day but I doubt it, unless your packed with SPS. Did you just replace GFO by any chance, that will take alk out of the system ?

how much alk are you dosing daily ?

35 mils of kent marine part a and 35 mills part b.
buffer and calcium.
I have a fare bit of sps in the tank.
I have noticed more growth lately, since i started dosing
