Alkalinity Swings

In the morning before lights on my tank peaks in alkalinity around 10-11 DKH. Around 5:30 pm the tank is normall 8.8-9.2 DKH. Usually stays the same just after lights go out. This is consistent everday. So what I am currently thinking is to greatly reduce the amount of alkalinity dosed at night and dose primarily between 11am and 10pm, an hour before lights on to an hour before lights off.

Holy smokes. I didn’t realize that you got that kind of swing. It makes it tricky to try and figure out how much your system is actually using.

Am I right to test at 9pm everyday to figure out how much consumption there is?

Consistent daily. Like I said, test at 5pm shows 8.8-9.2dkh, test at midnight it shows similar, test right in the morning 10-11dkh. Huge morning spike. I changed up my dosing in hopes to correct it. Instead of dosing roughly equal throughout the night I will now be dosing far more during “daytime” and reduce at night

You kind of piqued my curiosity on this one. I setup my reefbot to test last night and this morning and mine went up 0.3 dkh overnight. Not quite the swing you had.
