So have been awful busy this summer, so much that I've sort of neglected the tank in half a dozen horrible ways, and then had the wavebox go down for a couple of weeks. This week I did some water changes, got the wavebox fixed (Thanks Jerry), and did a big clean. Oddly enough, except for a couple of stags, everything is doing fantastic. LPS AND SPS all look great! Unbelivable. Absolutely 100% there should be no chance of this. I have to give 100% kudos to the apex on this. ATO, dosing, light cycles, etc.

Shame on me for getting busy outside, but WOW it's almost better that I left it on its own for a while!

I almost think I was keeping the tank too clean initially, however I certainly can't let the tank get dirtier, or I'm sure I'll have a crash, so back to some aggressive GFO use for a while.

just be careful with the aggressive GFO or it might cause to rapid of a change in phosphate levels and could do some damage.

Sometimes keeping our hands out of our tank is the best thing for maintaining stability and consistency

Buy an apex gold system right now and get the auto feeder for free. That's right free. God that's tempting especially since I've been waiting to get an apex for a while anyway

I tried to connect it to my network and up date it. I keep getting that error message though. I am hoping to meet up with jerry this weekend and set it up. It's the same error as nexusnight was getting. Thanks for the offer to help though

Jerry will get you hooked up for sure. There are some tricks on updating, such as be sure your computer and apex are hardwired to your router and clearing cashe etc after the updates. But that can get long. Here is hoping he gets things going. A controller really does change reefing. I put them up there on 'Needed Equipment' when someone is starting a new tank, right up there with skimmer and lighting.

I completely agree!

I just set up my RK lite. Not as advanced as a Apex. But still controls temp, net access, and pumps and skimmer set up for feed mode. I always was skeptical about controllers. Now that I have a basic unit, I'm SOLD! I'll never run a system without one now, and I haven't even added everything I wanted to it.

I have the old aqua controller hooked up now and yes I agree I will not go back. The only problem is I can't expand the system. So I bought the apex to expand the number if outlets.

I think I'm running 16+ outlets plus the breakout box with the apex. I have no idea how I would do it without a controller. Probably, I would have another dead tank.

So how is the new software? I think I'm still on old firmware, not sure, I vaguely remember something about there being an update but that it was a pain to install, I think that's what you guys are talking about. ?

I have kept up to date on all the modules and firmware. No issues with it at all. Just bite the bullet and actually follow the instructions lol. Most issues are caused by people just doing it over a wireless network and forgetting to update the webpages, then clear your browser cache before logging into the webpages. Fusion makes things even better for the basic user.
