So how long have they been growing for in your system?
My corals are all 1-2 years old. The started out under DIY led fixtures, the oldest of my corals lived under LED for about 18 months. I switched to 3x 20k 250 halide bulbs last September, and during that 5 month stint they exploded. Then now they have been under 3x 15k 400w bulbs in the new tank for just over a month, and they are going through another growth spurt. Hopefully that answers your question :)

Nice! You're getting good growth!

I know halides are proven winners for growth and color.

But just to play devils advocate. Do you think that most of the growth spurt was because of the lights or the maturity of the tank and how the corals settled in?

Don't get me wrong. I'm pretty sure it was the halides. But just the timing made me think.

My Pet Monster Humilis (starting to colour up and grow again, kinda browned out after the tank move and I changed the angle it faces which didn't help much)

I had another post prepped and ready to go when my phone randomly decided to shut down and refuse to reboot... Thankfully I was able to restore from a backup!!

Blue tabler is growing steadily. This is the little piece we thought was a dead SSC, Jordan.

Banana tabler. This thing has turned into a monster and is easily my favourite coral. What I love most about it is that I grew it from one tiny little piece of a branch that broke off of someone else's frag, and now its nearly the size of my hand.

Unknown purple acro is finally starting to branch out after encrusting for a year. I like the green tips...

Looking good! Loving the monti collection. GSP? You're a brave man ;)

Sony Xperia Z3
Haha yeah I know... I wish I was allowed to get rid of it!! (Why do chicks love gsp so friggin much?!?!)

I plan to smear the edges with kalk paste on a regular basis to keep it from growing up onto the acro rock above it.

Thanks! The colours are coming around nicely :D. Some of them still have a ways to go but for the most part I'm fairly happy.

Thanks a bunch buddy!

Thanks Tee! How's your tank coming along??

Slowly but surely- managing the trials and tribulations of adding livestock. Currently things are in hypo salinity and I had to move my coral out for the time being

Eep! Hang in there buddy. Your tank has the makings to be incredible - once it is ready. And given how your 90 gallon looked I have no doubts that it will turn out great given time. :D

Things look great Phil! Cudos on the blue tabler, SSC, and the MPT... the SSC especially wasn't in the greatest shape when you got it (and it was very small), can't believe how you've done with it, especially considering you've had a system change in there. I'll be after you for some frags in the not-so-distant future :)

Thanks Jordan :D I have been very pleased with the SSC development. It was pale brown when I added it, and showed zero polyp extension for a very long time. I thought for sure it was dead and was just waiting for algae to start growing on the skeleton... but then it turned pink!!

You're welcome over to pick up frags whenever you are ready.

I might be a little late on this, but put an H.R.V. system in. They blow stale air out side, and draw fresh air inside. There is a chamber in the middle that helps transfer some of the warmth from the out going air to the incoming air ( especially important in winter). The middle chamber also removes humidity. Standard equipment on new house furnaces, but have other uses in residential and commercial applications. Best not to hook your dryer to anything near your aquarium. There is a lot of off-gassing that a dryer does from soaps, softeners, bleaches, etc., and especially if it is a gas dryer. Best to discharge it directly outside. Make sure you seal the hole well with silicone to keep out any unwelcome guests.

Thanks for the advice James. I never did end up installing any kind of exhaust system, the tank doesn't seem to be causing a humidity problem. If it does turn into a problem, I will install an exhaust using the window beside my tank. An HRV would be nice but I do not have forced air in my house... so that would be a very expensive purchase just for the fish room. I may opt for one of these if the window exhaust is insufficient:
