thinking of painting the back of tank  blue or black or should i just leave it considering hopefully the back will eventually be covered in corraline anyway?  i did paint it yesterday but it turned out shit might go pick up some krylon fusion and spray it. any1 do blue at all?

we have one black and one blue, both the wife and i prefer the black, the blue is brighter but the black looks more natural, its taken 2 years for the back to coraline up 3/4 of the way, the coraline clashes with the blue, in our opinion, leaving it clear depends on whats behind it

yeah i dont know i figured black would drown out colouring in the tank if i leave it clear my wall behind it is a sand colour

I find black does the opposite to what you think. Imo it makes things stand out more.

I thought I liked black best but my new thought is blue if you plan on keeping it spotless otherwise black.
I am not big on clear.  Man I miss setting up the tank - one of the best parts. Enjoy!

BLACK...

you going to spray it or tint?

I was going to leave mine clear (back wall is a dark blue purple) but BLACK just looks too good :D

With black it brings everything in the tank to the eye a lot easier as opposed to blue which kinda blends the tank together. Black gives everything a nice pop all your different colours apppear brighter against such a dark surface...
but really just a personally preference

I vote for Black....you can just use standard latex paint (I prefer the low VOC). Just make sure the glass is clean and don't touch the glass before you paint it. It might take a few coats.

spray on dont roll it on....rolling takes way too many coats for an even look

Cool part with rolling or brushing on is no worries of overspray..... depends on if you want to move the tank where you can spray without getting yelled at.....I am lazy and would much rather put some tape along the edges and (I brushed on 2 thick coats) apply the paint.

Dude don't you remember when I painted on the black on my old 55? U hated it and told me to scrape it off. Now u wanna paint it black? Lol. In such a large tank u want it to be bright especially since u r only running 48" bulbs... Go blue..  I wish I did
