Bleached Frogspawn

I recently got a frogspawn that after one day in my tank is half bleached. I put it on the sandbed in my 29 gal. Biocube. I have an AI Prime for lighting and my blues were at 90 and 70 percent and everything else was under 50 percent.

I've since moved the frogspawn to an area shaded by the rock and turned on the Acclimation mode to 50%. While doing some research I've found that temperature can also be a factor in bleaching. My tank is generally around 79-80 deg. but does get up to around 82 sometimes. So I did float, drip and then Coral RX the frogspawn but perhaps my temps along with the lighting were a bit more that it was used to.

It's not totally bleached but around half the tentacles are clear with light purple tips on them. I'm hoping that being shaded, reduced lighting and several feedings per week will help it recover. While looking for info I came across this cool very informative slideshow on bleached and recovering frogspawn that I figured I'd share in case anybody else has similar issues.

Any further tips or advice any of you have would be appreciated. :)

Thanks ... Dave.

These guys are pretty solid and should come around. Some extra feed in will help and speed things up. It is most likely lighting related as most of us don't keep our tanks above 82.

what or why do you feed a frogspawn?? ive kept a huge colony for years, (pulled 15-20frags off it over time) without ever directly feeding it anything....

It came from my frag tank which is lit by crap LEDs , mostly likely will be the lighting, unless it was the other frog spawn which came from my display but was a bottom branch being shaded out, so again most likely lighting, as they all get fed reef roids, Kent coralvite, and acro power daily...

Thanks for the replies everybody. It's in a shaded spot now and seems to be doing fine although still rather bleached. I noticed a sweeper tentacle out the other day so I gave it some pellets. I've also offered rinsed mysis and brine shrimp since then. The tank it's in normally sits around 79-81 usually floating right around the 80 deg. mark.

Hey Shooter it was the smaller one on the piece of rubble ... the other seems to be holding it's colour. I'll continue offering food on occasion and hopefully the colour will come back. Other than the bleaching it seems healthy with tentacles out swaying in the current.

BTW - I also have Reef Roids that I feed 1-2 times a week. :)
