About 18 months a go i found a really good deal on marineland reef capable led's....despite ppl saying they are not good for sps they have been good for me as i bought 3 units for my 90...( found them on clearance online for $150 each so $450 for all three seemed like a great deal). the only complaint I have about them is they produce a lot of white and not much blue....any suggestions on cheap blue LED's just to add a some blue to the lighting?

Marineland have better PAR then most other 'reef capable' leds. The issue comes when you have to buy 3. Most people would only get one. I believe the PAR at 12" is around 150, so they have some potential.

You can ebay some royal blue leds, grab up a driver for them and a U channel aluminum strip from Canadiantire and you should be rocking for about $50 and a little work.
That sounds compacted and like I'll electrocute myself hahah are they any plug and play ones with just blues?

Please let us know when they arrive. Thinking of getting a couple led floods from them. Curious about shipping time.

I love RapidLED, especially with their solderless LEDs. But it does take some technical skills to hook up. The drivers do not come preset either, there is some skill involved in setting the driver to not blow the LEDs that are selected. I believe this is why people are going with some of the premade. I plan on doing a DIY one this week as my Onyx does not have quite enough blue for me. I am running my whites at 30% to get the look I want and would like to up that white.

For the price though, 21ledusa.com ReefBar Pro is actually cheaper and a nice looking option.

I'd like to build my own LED fixture, however my knowledge of electronics is very limited. I actually have a couple of flourescent
light fixtures that would make great enclosures for them. Those reefbar Pros might work well. Need to take a longer look.

That's surprising! I've only heard good things about them. Which ones did you order? Their website says if you're not satisfied they'll work to make it right.
