Hey everyone, I bought these brains 3 weeks ago. They were doing good and where all puffy but now their shriveled up and have been for the past 3-4 days. Getting a little concerned as they were not cheap at all.

Any advice from what you can see?
Too much light / not enough?
Flow is 2 wp25's and a wp40, it's just a rocking in there

I have a ultra green brain that is perfectly happy though

Check your calcium and alk lately? Anything you add with a skeleton is going to consume more of your elements lowering parameters, if they are I check I would check flow/light. They don't need a ton of light, and your green brain is most likely acustomed to your tank already.

have you tried feeding reef roids or reef chill? Sometimes that can help them bounce back..

Any recent physical changes to their location or changes in your tank, rock work, etc?

Could be associated with changes in water params, but from my experience they are more sensitive to lighting, flow, or nutrient level changes

I've tried both low light and med light neither seemed to work. I've lost two brains in the last couple months and think I'm saving the one I've had the longest. Funny how it seems others are having the same difficulties in the same time frame. I have a friend that just list a giant brain he had for a long time too. Do seasons play a roll in what these require to survive? I feed mine regularly too.

My brains don't like much flow at all and my flow is definitely on the low side for the spa that I keep.

They have always been unhappy out in the open, high light or low light but once I moved them into corners or in v notches between rocks where the flow doesn't sweep over them they are happy again.

First off, those are some really sweet Brains and it would be a shame to lose them. IMO the lighting could be too strong and the current is almost certainly too strong so I would start there. I would also suggest feeding them, I've found that Open Brains almost always shrink up when not fed enough. I'd feed them at least once a week if not twice.
Hope they start to turn around for you.
