Buying A Used Tank

So I'm looking at a coue used tanks and havnt pulled the trigger yet
My main concern is I found one

My delema is what if I starts to leak
Recently a friend of mine bought a starphire tank from an unknown source
Just looking for some input from everyone else here

You always take that risk when buying used. Unless you know the seller is reputable.

Looks to be very similar size as a few tanks for sale here. I know for a fact that a lot of members here would vouch for the members selling here though.

Tank looks good to me. Best thing you can do is when you get it home fill with water in your garage or something and let it sit for a few days. If it holds youre off to the races.

anutime i buy a used tank i reseal it just to be sure.... doesnt involve taking it apart just stripping the inside....... biggest cue look for air bubbles in the seams as a big bubble will indicate separation which will become a seam blowout if not fixed the odd little one is fine long as thickness of glass is bigger than bubble

I think i have heard any tank that sits without water in it for a long time causes the seals too dry out and may fail easier.
Not sure if thats true.

Ask the seller to fill it up with fresh water before you go see it, if doesn't leak with fresh then it won't leak with salt water. but the tank looks good, It's not very old. I've bought many used tank and they've never leaked.

That's something I've never worried about, I know its crazy but I've always trusted the guy or gal, But then again I've never bought a piece a crap tank or one that's been sitting for awhile.

Another thing to think about asking is if the person ever used Panacur in the tank. If so, you can never put snails into it as part of your cleanup crew.
