I used 1.5 pipes and 1 inch bulkheads. I just followed the bean man himself and the original plans from his site

I run 1" with my jebao dc12000 @ 100%. it also feeds my reactors though. 1" should be fine for you. Sch40 or sch80 bulkheads are both perfectly fine for aquarium use. Some people say otherwise, however they are both as prone to defects as the other. I prefer sch80 bulkheads. You purchase them by pipe size, so if you do a 1" return, you will need what is labeled as a 1" bulkhead. Albeit, the 1" sch80 bulkhead will need a larger drilled hole then the sch40 1" bulkhead.

I prefer the Hayward bulkheads. IMO they are better quality than the aquarium grade but not as bulky as the sch80 ones. The downside is they are white but they don't stay white for long...or you can paint them with fusion. Any pool and spa place always have them in stock.

Ive heard a few long time reefers say the sch 80 are better than the sch 40 as well.... not sure what ones steve at La has all i know is their the only one he installs on his builds for the store and customers..... i figured 1" would be fine just needed re-assurance to boost confidence am only running a danner supreme classic 1200. I love these pumps i swear they are bullet proof just non stop work horses and i only clean it twice a year lmao

Speaking of bean Animal. Anyone want to help drill a tank for a BA setup for me?

I'll pay.

I don't have a hole saw and I don't feel too comfortable doing it myself.

I had no problem finding black bulkheads at the pool supply stores around town. They are a good source for a lot of the other fittings and valves you will need as well. I highly recommend ordering a gate valve rather than a ball valve to adjust your main siphon line. you will NOT find them anywhere around here though. I ordered mine from brs. They are expensive, but you will thank yourself when your not spending a half hour trying to fine tune the siphon with a ball valve. Your welcome to stop by and see how mine is setup if you like. Im in the sports world area.
