It's funny. We can farm pigs, sheep, cows, goats , horses, rats, turkeys, pheasants, ducks, etc etc etc. no problems at all.

but as soon as someone sees "farmed fish"
Oh gawd no!! Disease and death and parasites, you'll get sick just looking at a farmed salmon fillet [emoji23][emoji849]

Truth is farmed fish is the future, it is a sustainable and proven method of getting the world the fish supply it craves without damaging the ecosystems as much as trawling and net fish ( wild fishing)

I work in the fish industry. Top grade Farmed salmon for instance- our cost is 6.75$ a lb ( last week)

Top grade Wild salmon- 14.75$ lb.

It's funny how one salmon farmer screws the pooch, released his crop before the proper anti biotic buffer that's required by law. And suddenly the whole industry is corrupt and is "the worst"

Are you working in land, or coastal water way? With the salmon/Trout farms in our area there is little risk of contamination to the environment. I use to deliver feed to trout farms. More years ago than I'd like to admit. I think the big issue is with the over feeding and bacterial infections of the coastal fisheries infecting the wild. Kind of like a concentration camp for fish. Not to mention the GMO fish. What if there is an escape? We've seen what happened to our great lakes with the gobbies right? I would never bust on a fish farm or the farmer, cause they are the ones feeding us. But like you said its the schmuck that cares little for the natural environment before dumping product into the enclosure that ruins it for all.

Just out of curiosity what are your views of the GMO salmon they are coming out with?
