Wondering who has one and what are your experiences with them?

Haven't been looking but does anyone know a good place to get them?

Any tips or trick to keeping them?

Thanks

Sent you a PM regarding clams.

For care, I find they are relatively easy to keep. They do need good stable parameters of the big 3 (Alk, Mag, Cal), but are fine with higher levels of nutrients. Lighting is important and you will want the same kind of lighting that you would use to grow SPS corals. You can do supplemental feedings to increase there "happiness" but it is not necessary for survival.

Hope that helps.

I've heard big problems associated with "moving them around" once they are established, simply moving it could be it's demise.... how much truth is there to this?

Ah, I have seen rocks with nice curved spots in them sold for clams to solve this, I didn't realize the issue with moving it all came down to it's foot.

For what it's worth, I used to use LED, and lost 2 clams after a couple of months. Now I use 2 x 250w halides, and my clam has a massive white growth ring and is growing like crazy. He probably added at least an inch or 2 in total size over the last year. I had him in my old setup under some smaller halides, and he did ok, but now he is wide open all the time, and the mantle even touches the substrate sometimes. I want to add a maxima. Those are amazing.

In my experience, it's all about lighting with clams. The more, the better.

I only have a Radion xr15 pro, maybe I need to rethink the clam idea if LED's are not good enough to keep them :(

I'm just waiting for Clam confirmation and when I can go see em and maybe get to have a few to choose from. I'm bracing myself for the price but I have waited almost a year to get one and spent some serious $$ on a light that would make it happy and cleared out some of my favourite pieces to get one.

I run two maxspect 120w and a 4' vertex illumilux blue on my 48x24x24

I'm my experience. The smaller the clam. The more sensitive it will be to everything. If it's your first clam. Save your money and buy something that's at least 4-6" across

Sony Xperia Z3

putting that in prospective ..... do we need to have a big tank for a clam???
