It sounds to me like you are looking for a mesh sock rather than a felt sock.
I actually use a combination of both. I run my felt until the water spills over the top ( usually 3 days give or take ) then the mesh ones. Until the felt ones are ready to go again.

My bad lol.
I was kinda replying to both and got a bit messed up Lol.
That was aimed at Derrick.
As for the canister mesh bags, when I used to use them I never had any problems finding the refillable media bags at most LFS's.

That's just a media bag. Let me know size and I can check my stock.

I wait till overflow, then flip inside out and put in pail with lid. I have 26 socks. When I get to my last few I wait till a bleach load of laundry has been done, put them in for a cycle with only bleach, then spin dry. I remove them, rinse them in RODI water, then lay them out to dry, and I'm good to go.

I take mine out when water is flowing over the top and blast them upside down with the fast pulse of the shower massage and turn it inside out and do that till its white and turn it back and do again then twist it till no water dripping then put back in sump. Normally a week

I also change mine when water spills over. I myself bought 20 of them and when they are all dirty I put them in the washer with bleach and run a cycle with and extra rinse. After I take them out I put them in a bucket with water and add prime for 24 hrs. They come out white and as good as new almost.
