What are some easily sourced, cool predator fish for a 120 gallon tank?

And go.

I've always loved Panther groupers, they look so neat with their polkadots, but are they realistic in a 120 for more than a few years?

You could get a dwarf lion, maybe even a normal one since theyre not all that active. Could probably though a eel of some sort in. Anf id consider a puffer of some sort..but thats just me lol

Eel's have never struck my fancy, I will be moving my tiny little lion fish into this tank so he is checked off the list.

Anything else I could consider?

Are you set on smaller predators or considering non reef- safe fish?  There are so many gorgeous butterflies and angels that you can do in a fowler that will make for an active colourful display.

If novelty predators are it, add me to the list of frogfish fans or consider a genus type tank with a number of different lionfish species.  That would make an impressive display.

Ideally predator fish, I wanna see a neat display come feeding time.

Also fish that are somewhat easy to source would be ideal too. I don't want super expensive (ie: rare) cause I don't wanna dump a HUGE chunk of change into this side project.

Frog fish are kinda.... well ugly.... lol and they don't really swim around, they kinda just sit there like ugly sponges waiting to be fed....

And compatible with the lion that Tony has already said is going in.  Many of the aggressive fish that have been mentioned will not be compatible with the lion who is slow moving and not a fast feeder, so if the lion is in the aggressive wrasses and triggers are out....

Btw a Harlequin is reef safe other than small shrimps and very mild tempered.

Would a lion's venomous spines not be deterrent enough for most fish?  I know venomous fish can eat other venomous fish (as i found out when my toadfish attempted to eat lionfish). Triggers and wrasse should be ok.

The loin will not get any food as they are slow hunters so you would have to work hard to feed him.

Plus in an enclosed environment with tank mates the lion will not be able to scare them away with a show and incidental contact and stinging will happen especially during feeding frenzys.

Tony what kind of lion and is he in for sure?
