coral epoxy

Just wondering what everyone uses for epoxy. can i buy something suitable local or is it a special kind of reef epoxy.

I've got the stuff from brs, it works good for rocks, but sucks for frag plugs,
I think the plugs are to smooth.

I picked up some Instant Ocean epoxy from Big Al's.... it's the only one I've used, and I can't say I'm a huge fan.  I had a tricky time getting it to stick to rock, and it doesn't look so great either.  Although with time I'm sure it will become covered in coralline.  But yeah once I get it to stick to the rock, I press the frag into the blob and hold it there until the epoxy firms up, and that seems to work well enough.

Which one do you use Poseidon?  They carry a couple.  I was eyeing the Ocean Wonders purple epoxy.

Related question - anybody use gel glue?  What kind?

gel glue works best for frag plugs... i use the ocean wonders gel glue

the stuff i got from brs is the grey stuff.. grey blends in more with my tank
not sure of the name...

for the gel glue i used many kinds and find the ecotech coral glue to work the best.  has the right thickness and hardens up fairly quick. my only problem is the price.

Its always best to use a combination of epoxy and gel super glue.

I used the two little fishes grey aquastix epoxy... 

It worked, but I can't say I'm a huge fan... Stinks once its mixed, sticks to your fingers, and there is definitely a learning curve in getting it to stick where you want it to once its been mixed

I used to use the ecotech stuff which is a little pricey!  Until Teebone told me about the dollarama gel superglue....works the same for only a buck!

Glue,epoxy then more glue. won't move off tile. The epoxy takes awhile to harden but when it does, it's solid.

That method is for rookies....real fraggers just use glue

I also used glue, epoxy and glue but I just started Chopping of all my frags plugs so its just glue now. Same as copper and tee ... Dollar store gel, can't beat it

Use Jedi Frag skills and just frag your coral, then use the art of symmetrical balance and let the coral grow to the frag plug. Glue is over rated.

I just use dollar store gel glue, buy it by the case as it only come available once and a while here.

Ecotech glue for me. Dollar store stuff if just doing a few but I find the glue ends up oozing out side once you really squeeze to get last bit out, and hardens if you don't use it all I find.

It may be more expensive...but so are some of the frags we buy and all it takes is it to fall behind or under a rock and goodbye new frag.

I picked up the Vertex Aquaristix today because I have a turbo snail who is more like a bulldozer than a snail and needed to glue things down a little better.

I found the Vertex is much easier to work with than the two little fishes, but takes longer to set.  And the vertex came with gloves so it didn't stick all over your hands    Still stinks, but thats probably unavoidable.
