So I have a pile of dead rock right now that I would like to cure and make life again I have seen people curing rock in stock tanks has anyone ever done this here? Are the stock tanks are right for the live rock to soak in? They won't Leach any chemical into the rock as it's curing?

it really depends,
i have a 150g rubbermade stock tank meant for farm livestock and rubber maid claims that it wont leach anything into the water, ive seen lots of people use them with no effect.

Go to tsc and get a livestock stock tank. They are made for water for farm animals. They won't leach into water

BPA free is over rated. Apparently you really have to heat the plastic, almost to melting point to get it to leach. According to my sources in the plastic industry (water bottle manufacturing). If you leave it in the sun in a sealed car THEN the plastic could leach... Like the saying goes "You can't cure stupid"...

Rubermaid garbage can, a heater and 2 powerheads blasting the rock is how I did it and it worked great. I did a weekly water change using tank water, its crazy how nasty the rock water gets. I did that until the rock water stayed clear, for me it took about 5 months. Maybe it would go alittle faster if you ran a filter as well.
