Definitely looks like an injury of some sort... have you noticed any aggression in your tank latley?

0 aggression...it's the only tang in a 220g, no new additions...

Yes I have 4 flame bta's and a rainbow bta

I wouldn't be suprised if that's the cause of your issue I've had the same issue with my tang looked the same too

Or I should say no new fish additions....added a bunch of corals including 2 torches a Frogspawn and some softies.

Yeah you'd be suprised anemones are great but can grab onto fish and seriously sting them or kill them , clownfish are the only fish (that I know of) thathave a special slime coat that can withstand the stings of anemones so it dosent other them , it looks pretty bad feed some garlic to boost his amune system to bounce back quicker and he should make a recovery

Ya I have a pair of clowns that host the lg flame bta....it's pretty cool. What type of garlic? Fresh minced mixed with food? The chopped stuff in a jar? Lol

Do you run carbon? As I understand it, HLLN is caused by carbon fines.
I'm no expert. That's just the first thing I would check into...

By the way, I have more than 20 anemones in my 75g. 8 fish, including a yellow tang. Never had a fish look like that.

Fleshy looking...actually looks like it had a fight with my mp40 lol

Looking closer you can almost see what looks like the shape of an anemone tentacle imprinted in the flesh. It's swimming around like nothing is wrong.

I would think a sting from a nem would leave him a little down for the count, but then again so would a mp-40:0
