This floor runs into the kitchen also??
How are you finding durability??  Guess it's still new...
Always concerned about using hw in kitchens, i've been leaning towards the 6x18 porcelain tiles that look like wood.
However, that will require i add another layer of subfloor..

I love renovations....  Mostly...lol

Yes we decided to run hardwood throughout.  I can't say I regret it.  The only difference is you "shouldn't walk from one end to the other end of the kitchen with dripping wet hands"  If you spill water, wipe it up sooner, rather then later.

There's been no wear so far and I don't think there will be a problem.  I won't go back to tile flooring unless it's at the front and rear entrances to the house.

Wood throughout, also make the space appear larger then it really is.

Go for it, you won;t be disappointed.  Just be aware of water.  We had the same worries before as well.

cork is the new way to go :)

my gfs family owns a couple flooring canada stores and cork is a big seller, durable, waterproof, warm and looks sweet

Cork is very durable. We are thinking of doing the kitchen with it.

We almost did cork as well.  but with pets, we were worried about the wear.  Although I've seen and felt the product, I think it would be fine.  Wife said she's rather have hardwood and I concurred :)

MAybe I'll do my fish room in cork lol

So I got home from work today at round 3pm.  I didn't want to work on my lawn, so I decided to get some work done on the stand!

First off, I started with marking the baseboards for removal.

I used this Dremal tool.  I gotta say it's the best tool for this kind of work.  It made short work of the task at hand.

So here you can see the tank from a few different angles.

Got the foam on the stand as well.

That's all for now.  I'm hoping to get the tank onto the stand sometime soon.
I can't wait to see it! :bounce1::bounce1::bounce1:

It will be really nice as it appears it can be viewed from may different areas! Enjoying the progression btw.

Thanks dude, yeah the tank can been seen from anywhere in the house.  I was going to put the tank in the front room but I would have to go there to see it.  I figured it would be a good conversation piece with it being in the kitchen.  Turned the front(dining room) into a play area for the kiddies.

Update date time!

So I got my fish tank set up on to the stand.  Kinda of a big deal in the deeznutz household.

I'm hoping to get some more progress done on the fishroom this weekend.  I'm still at the drywall stage lol.

OK enough of my rambling, on to the pics!

Dan! You've built my Dream Tank, So when you're ready for something bigger, let me know and I'll pick it up. Amazing, I love the Rimless look and don't mean to critisize but I would of put a 2-3 inch splash guard right across the front. I have it on mine and it really stops the water flow from the power heads. Other than that. Very Nice can't wait to see you stock it.

Thanks man, I'm not sure how I convinced mine, but it started with a very small budget and it ballooned from there lol. You you know how it works.  Might as well add star fire glass, might as well go a bit longer, might as well add a fish room.  8)

No worries dude, it's all relative.  Dealing with fish problems is just as common as dealing with wife problems.  There should be wife forums if you ask me. lol

Thank Jewel, apparently this is my last tank if you ask my wife, so you might be waiting for quite some time.  If thing change, you will be the first to know:)

Thanks for the heads up on the splash guard.  I'm only used to Euro-braced tanks and when I clean the glass I go to town knowing the water will stay inside the tank.  I would much rather have a eurobraced tank for the added security(which is why I opt for the 3/4 glass) and water guard function, but ultimately its the rimless look I'm after.  I'm gonna have to take my time cleaning the top of the glass.  I hear salt creep can be a pita as well.

Have I expressed how much I love the Sketchup program?  It really helps you realize and picture things without actually doing it.  I've always found that going from the drawing board to the final product is shockingly realistic.

The best part about the program is that it free and very easy to use.  So if you haven't used it, go try

For some people (Marz) that have to convince their significant other into doing something as expensive as a fish tank.  Wouldn't it be better if you could show them how it can look before you get the green light?  It worked for me  ;)

Any who, for those who are interested I've added the link below.
