That's great! I remember I had red cyano In my 180g and it was one of the reasons I decided to fold in the towel and start over, great to know there's a way to deal with it should it even occur again!

So, after reading about tdb320reef's reef setup and how he uses MB7 to help combat cyano issues while running bio-pellets, I decided to give it a try myself. I have been dosing MB7 for 2 weeks now as per the directions on the bottle. I have also been stirring up my sandbed every week and blowing off the rocks, which I have all ready been doing every week. Low and behold, my cyano has all most completely disappeared! I figure it will be completely gone in a couple days as 90% of it is gone now!! I don't know if it is coincedence or not, or whether turning off my skimmer everyday for 4 hrs while I am dosing helps the nutrient levels in my tank to balance everything out, but it worked!!!! No more cyano and a nice bright white sandbed again. I will take a picture tonight and show a before and after shot. Again, not saying dosing the MB7 is the sole reason of the cyano disappearing but I can definitely say it has helped! I am going to now drop to the maintenance amount and keep dosing going forward. There has been no ill effects towards any corals or livestock that I have seen.

Interesting.  This is counter to what I have typically read.  I may have to give it a try.  I'm close to knocking my cyano out completely, but some is stubborning hanging on.

I have been running GFO/Carbon pretty much since day 1. Cyano is definitely a tough one to beat because there are SO many factors that can come into play. Excess nutrients, lighting, bacteria imbalance, low flow areas, etc. so it is hard to figure out which approach to take. In my case, it may have been a bacteria imbalance where the bacteria in the MB7 may have beaten out the cyano for the nutrients that were feeding it. This is all just a guess and I can't guarantee that is what happened. All I am saying though is that I dosed it and it must have helped me get through it. So overall, I am a happy man!

Thanks everyone! Now I just need to be patient and let the frags grow. It's all ready quite congested in my tank! Once my corals start maturing, I will have to start picking and choosing what goes and what stays.... Fortunately, I have some time before that happens.

Wow your tank looks amazing! Love your rock work! Such a clean look!

What is your bulb combo in your fixture?

What sand did you use?

Will your powerheads work together and controllable and create a wave?

Thanks for the compliment. My fixture is an 8 x 80w ATI T5 unit. 5 x ATI Blue Plus, 2 x ATI Coral Plus, 1 x ATI Purple Plus. This helps give my tank more of a blue colour.

For sand, I have roughly 1 1/2" - 2" of Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand. It is large enough that it doesn't blow around and can stir it up without a huge sandstorm.

I run 2 x Tunze 6101 and 1 x Tunze 6105 all on a Tunze multi-controller. It doesn't really create a wave but I definitely have some sparatic and turbulant flow going on. I also run 1 - Koralia 1400 that runs 24/7 across the back of the tank just so debris doesn't collect behind my rock.

looking good Derek.  Im gonna have to be around when you start choosing which ones you are getting rid of.
Wheres the neon trumpets?

Thanks Dave. I have a nice large piece of Cobalt Blue Tort that can be yours. I modified mine to grow in the shape that I wanted and have a big piece left over. The trumpets are off to the side of the tank right now. I am going to be moving them to the front of the tank. Just making some room.
