I've got a 425gph powerhead in my daughter's 30g tank, but it's not quite enough. I was thinking i could use one of the larger ones i have laying around and dial it back with a dimmer switch. Any problem with doing that?

I have hydor and fluval, which both claim to be compatible with wave makers, but i guess that 's not quite the same. Dang it!

What model of pumps? I am pretty sure compatible in this case is referring to simple rapid on/off states though
Yeah that's what I meant by not quite the same. Fluval cp4 and koralia 1400. Will have sicce voyager 3 next weekend.

It's not bad, but very narrow. Can't get flow throughout tank. Could add another, but not much room in a 30g cube for hardware.

what if you put 1 power head in the opposite corner to the return...would that not keep the momentum to keep the flow going..

technically swapping impeller magnet for a weaker one would be most effective unless it uses a controller its probably just on/off and thats it if you dial down the power supply with a dimmer it might slow it but most likely it will just stop once you drop below the voltage threshold
