Not sure what to do guys my chalice frag was amazing come home tonight and see my frag to shit one day to the next all permit look great I think I may just shut it down and go a discus tank with live plants for now

I use salfert test kit 0 would be my reading .25 was on the chart so I used that lol

I agree you should see zero ammonia on a established tank

Ya my reading is clear it's 0 for sure and this is my first time running led all other corals seem great my main issue was flow so I got that figured out now cone home and chalice go to shit would reef roids do this ?

i lost a crap load when i switched to led. i have very little sps now.just now ramping them back up. mostly because i don't care anymore lol

Is it just the chalice? Sometimes chalice can finicky.. anything nearby that could have stung it overnight or any fish picking at it? I doubt reef roids have anything to do with it. Have you ever calibrated your refractometer to ensure that your getting correct readings? Maybe too much light?? Not enough? At this point it try to shade it a bit to give it a chance to recover.

that do it. that happened to me once. i don't dose anymore, just regular water changes now

Freak all other coral are happy but not chalice screw dosing water changes that's it I never had these issues with my 160 and all I did was water changes and run gfo and carbon and this is what I'm sticking to and if not it's going to be a discus tank is getting hard and harder to find good fish or coral at a good price in London anyway

I found my tanks did better when i kept things simple. i don't dose, and my skimmer has been off for a month. just running gfo reactor and doing weekly 20 gallon water change. i'll b selling skimmer next. lol. actually, the gfo is 3 months old.
But some people do well with all the high tech stuff.

I'm just having a bad day I don't I would give up my reef it was a stupid mistake on my end dosing I'll be doing a water change on sat for my cube and hope to have my yasa goby and pistol in for my 3 gal cube

hay it could possibly be a form of boring micro algae, Ostreobium. it is inside the skeleton and once affected not much to do but pray. I had a large favia colony got it and half died took a long time but it did in a few days you probably see a greenish tint to the new dead skeleton. no real cure either it is advanced by nitrates ammonia and phosphates.

Another thought, any chance your chalice was attacked by the coral right next to it? I only suggest this as it seems to be rather retracted as well.

Chalice are sensitive on the best of days. Let alone if something swung way out of balance like that. Get your tank back up to par and go from there. We all suffer losses from time to time. Keep your chin up.

at least its a frag and not a whole colony and now you know what param is high..... i didnt give up with my tank leak so you surely cant with a frag death. maybe someone close by could stop in and take a look test kits are known to have bad batches lfs double checking my results has saved me twice now
