Dreaming About A Dreamy Dream Tank...

I have been warning my beautiful wife that if everything is going well, I would like to have a large tank so I can keep certain fishes that I wish I could have right now.

I have the spot picked in the basement. It is against a wall that has an unfinished room behind it. It can accommodate a 72 inch long tank with a good amount of room on each side. I would like a 125 wide or a standard 180 to have the 24 inch width.

My thought was to do a bean animal overflow and plumb it through the wall into the unfinished room. Right behind the wall is the main stack that runs out to the sewer which I could hopefully tie a fishtank only laundry tub into. Surrounding this area would be a seperate fuge, sump and frag tank. I would also have a seperate QT setup. I would install and plumb an RO/DI unit and have two containers, one for fresh, one for pre mixed saltwater. Both containers sealed to eliminate evaporation. Ideally, the ro/di unit would feed the laundry tub of this is even possible...

Ideally, I would love to have a tall Life Reef skimmer as there would be no limitations as far as size goes.

The fish I have decided I really would love to have in this tank are as follows:

Bellus Angelfish x 2?
White Cheek Tang (acanthuras nigricans)
Pacific Blue (hippo) tang (Paracanthiras hepatus)
Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)
Blue Lined Rabbitfish aka Scribbled rabbitfish (Siganus Doliatus) or Magnificent Foxface
Fathead Sunburst Anthias
Undecided Wrasse(s)
Gotta Have a goby or two...
Barnacle Blennies or similar...

I would move my SPS to this tank and would utilize kalkwasser for my top up water with a Tunze Osmolato ATO.

For lighting, I am thinking a DIY LED or a semi DIY LED package from one of the dealers ie Nano Box or Steve's LEDs.

Keeping the cost down on the build is a big factor and important for my marriage ;)

The reason I posted this is, there are a few things I am not sure of and would love a discussion.

Plumbing - what order to plumb what i.e... DT to frag tank to skimmer/sump to fuge than back to DT?

RO/DI - can it be plumbed to supply the laundry tub with pure water for rinsing purposes or should I not bother.

Fish Stocking - i was thinking the small peaceful fish first.. Anthias -wrasses-Foxface- Angels - tangs... In that order...

If there is anything I posted that sounds like nonsense or dumb please let me know.. I'll be trying to accumulate the parts and peices to this over the course of this year. Keeping my eyes on the classifieds as I get the $$ put aside.

Thanks for reading..

Plumb...DT...mechanical filtration (socks or settling tank)...skimmer/reactor area..other sump space....return which has feeds for fuge and frag tank. IMO though there are lots of opinions on this...

If your basement is unfinished, you could install an RO with a tap for the kitchen sink, fridge hook-up, and tee a line to the basement for the fish room (sink and tank fill). That way your wife could benefit from the RO and you can use it with her permission too.:D That's my plan for the future... except the wife part...
