Drying Time For Truck Bed Coating

I remember at least one person on here has used truck bed coating for the inside of their stand/canopy, but i can't find the thread. I'm going to use it for the inside of my canopy. The can says to not put anything on truck bed for 72 hours. Given my lights are mounted directly to the canopy, that's a bit of an issue! What I'm wondering is if 72 hours is necessary for my application. Like most paints/coatings, a second coat can be applied after 24 hours. Anyone know if that would be long enough?

I'd honestly give it the proper drying time. As your canopy will be exposed to moisture. So you want to make sure it's fully cured or you may run into flaking or pealing down the road.

Your corals will be fine for a 72hr black out. It will also help get rid of any algae issues you maybe having

My thinking was it probably just can't take any abuse until after 72 hours. Yes, the few corals i have are my concern. But if 72 hours is not an issue for them, then that solves my dilemma!

I agree. Three days is no big deal. If you are really worried I'm sure you could still get some light on them somehow without your canopy.

As with most solvent based products, the surface dries fast. Its the materials under it that need to still cure.

Its the same with my solvent for acrylic. Yes, I can put water in after an hour... But the seem isn't 100% cured for a week (around 80% after 24 hours).

So, as with everyone else, I'd give it the 3 days. Especially since this is your hood. Any VOC's coming out would be trapped in the hood, with the heat of the light, and the moisture from the tank. Who knows what might happen!
