I picked up a pair of ecotech quiet drive replacement drivers when I was over at reef boutique today getting my fish.

The whine of the mp40s really isn't terrible, but up in the 70%-100% range it's pretty bad.

I'm trying to minimize the racket and not drop another grand on power heads.

I hooked up the new driver in about 5 minutes and cranked the pump to 70%.

Then I checked the power. And the flow. It was on. At 100% with my head right next to it it's barely audible.

Just thought I'd let you know it's awesome!

I am surprised that the driver upgrade can make the "old style" dry-sides barely audible. I really can't believe that it actually works as advertised. I saw your drivers at Reef Boutique and had this same conversation while I was there. Great testimonial, as I will have to stop by and hear it for myself. If these are as quiet as you say they are, it looks like I will be upgrading too ;)

Tyler, I wasn't expecting much of anything to be honest. The difference was absolutely unreal. You will have your head in the cabinet to hear it. I haven't done the other one yet. I'll wait till you come over so you can hear the change

Thanks, but please don't wait for me to drop by before upgrading your other mp40. I will stop by eventually and you deserve to enjoy your tank in silence :D

You're the first I know who has made the upgrade, glad its working out
