I have a 15 pro its a sweet light but I have learn a few things about them over the short time I have had it.
One the software interface is not very nice. But that depends on your Rig(PC) I was so frustrated with not being able to get the light to communicate with Ipad I bought a cheap laptop and then it didn't like to communicate with the laptop as well. I then bit the bullet and bought a reeflink(150 bones) and it now works but not as seemless as it should for the money. I have the latest firmware.
It will fry SPS that is said to be high light. so the light is 12 inches from the water arm that comes with it. and I had some stuff 4 inches below the water and at 50 % settings ramped up over a month I bleached some corals. Im a noob so that my experience with this in mind.
But with this light less is more and once you dial the thing in its amazing colour and tun-ability is fantastic.
I have it on a nano but bought it with the dream of having several over a 6 ft tank one day and with all the info I have read they are one of if not the top of the line units. Growth is amazing with it and colours really pop.
The pre- layouts are the way to go I think. others have said that LED's are beyond most consumers ability to program them and even professionals have no idea how the par unless you have a par meter. Going by eye as to it looks pretty is no way to use these lights.
BRS guy says that the T5 and MH are better for 90% of the hobbyist out there because not many can tune them in correctly. I agree with this statement. But that being said if you get a layout that some pro has tuned in then you are gold. Also once the light and layout/Schedule is set there really is no need to ever play around with them.
good luck to anyone that has these and I would recommend them with caution and say maybe a Kessil or Kelo would be a better option for you.
lets just say they are like a ham radio to a CB
