i put 2 new mp40 QD on my system today. My gyre has basically stopped working, and just my 2 mp40 ES weren't enough flow. I picked these up for 700 for the pair, with one still sealed in the box. It took about 5 minutes to install the new ones and move the old ones to the rear sides of the tank. They run in reef crest at 100%, and are silent.

It's ridiculous really.

As some of you may know, I had upgraded my controllers for my MP40es to quiet drive. For a while, it kept them quiet, but lately, they've started to get noisier. You can definitely notice the difference over the new quiet drives.

My flow has obviously increased by a whole lot lol. I'll keep you up to speed on the quiet drive pumps.

Thus far, I'm very pleased with how quiet they are.

You say your gyre has all but quit? I was looking at a 150 gyre what went wrong with it?
Is it not still under warranty? They haven't been out for all that long lol

Wait how can you quantify how silent something is?

Early adapters always take that chance, when you're the first to try it you're bound to test a few lemons

I can quantify it by putting my ear near it. When I either cannot hear it, or barely hear it..... It's quiet

And the gyre has no power at all.

I'm going to see if I can get a new one

I still have to come see your tank some time Mike.

The gyre isn't all that it was cut out to be and maxspect seems to have dropped the ball on warranty lately too(all from what I've heard). The gyre can move some serious water and is a great concept. But I'm glad I stuck with vortech.
I hope all the guys and gals on here have better luck with their gyre and with customer service from maxspect

Any time Eric. It really starting to come together now and is super stable. The extra 2 mp40s have really increased the flow and I'm finally getting a little PE on my sps. I'm wondering if I shouldn't move a couple of rocks to increase flow a bit more lol.

I bought my gyre from MOPS, and Dan has been more than great in working through my various issues with the gyre. I'm on my second or 3rd motor and 2nd control box. The gyre has been a real disappointment. It did move a ton of water. But the mp40s do as well.
