Hello everyone,

I have had a Radion Pro 15xr for approx. a year and after that time I have become somewhat frustrated with the light.

Adjusting the light is a nightmare, I even broke down and purchased the reef link to make things easier. But that really didn't resolve the issue of making programming the light easier.

I had a Windows 10 laptop and the software would not work with it correctly issues with communications. I have had two Ipads since having the light and Have never been able to update the light.

I have had issues with algae and light balance, I have used several other preprogrammed layouts.

I'm really not looking for a solution, because honestly I have given up on this led.

But I have notices a number of people that had these lights already sell them off and I assume for performance reasons?

any other reviews would be appreciated. I maybe alone with my dissatisfaction.

When I was looking at replacing my maxspect originally I had looked at this light but decided against it because of this very issue. This was one of the main reasons I went with AI Hydra 52 was programming issues.

Have you tried updating the firmware for the reef link and LED? Some people resolved this issue by doing this.

Have you called ETM? They have great customer service. I can tell you depending on the revision of light, and version of software you are using, there can be issues. If you google enough you can find them, or if you call ETM they can confirm things for you. I had a similar issue at one point where I had to fully delete connection manager and get a different version of it.

Beyond that, the Algae issue can't be caused by your light. The light can be fueling the fire so to speak, but not causing the problem. What do you have the reds set to, and what is overall intensity?

I have not called Technical support I guess I should.

The issue is that without a Windows PC I have not been able to get into programming the LED's You have the USB cable option which apple doesn't support and I have yet to be able to make the app work on the either Ipad. I can log into the website and view the current layout and program but communication from light to link is not working. I can not upload or download information to the led with my computer equipment. I have tried with my Andriod phone and that is even a bigger mess.

I have used a layout from a fellow reefer on the forum as well as the current layout I have that was downloaded from a website that uses the light to grow coral frags.

I have little to no reds, but maybe too much white light. Without a parmeter having any clue what I am working with is a guess at best. I had originally ramped the lighting up over 3 months to 60% of what the Coral grower had them set at.

I have probably 6 month old firmware on the lights and reef link Since that was the last time I was able to connect and have upload downloads and the other firmware is less than a month old.

It lets me do everything except push changes to the light on the ecolive site.

Lots of people sell Radions while upgrading to newer generations. Part of the issue with LED, and Radions specifically is that there is simply TOO much control. People set them up, then change the settings in a week, then change again in 2 weeks, etc, etc. Like anything in this hobby, stability is key, and people seem to not include lights there. So the fiddle more and more and then eventually say screw it, it's the lights. Go back to T5, and bingo, all is good. More likely, they can't piss around constantly with T5. There are PLENTY of Radion lit reefs online to show as example of how great they can work.

Your issue however is primarily one that has nothing to do with ETM really. Not sure why you would buy the light when you don't have the ability to even control it. Surely you know someone with a PC laptop who can come over for you to set things up? Once you do that, you can leave them.

So I bought the light without the ability to control it? I just told you I had 2 PC laptops 2 apple products an android phone the reeflink. I spent years in the computer field and I can't get this light to work properly?

You then tell me its my fault?

This is why I like my Ai. Turn knob to select and push knob to confirm. Doesn't get more simple than that. And ramping makes sunrise and sunset super easy as well. I find some things these days come with too many options and it just complicates everything else. If I need to use a computer to get it to work that right there turns me away from a purchase. Nothing po's me more than seeing the phrase "update needed" or "error" Makes you want to reach for a hammer!

Easy Tiger.

Where did you say you were trying with 2 PC laptops? All I saw was you HAD a Windows 10 PC. I went on to say there were updates for different versions of windows.

I could just as quickly snap at you for your "review" of a product you can't seem to get to work, but have not even bothered to contact the manufacturer in any ways. Instead, you infer that seeing others selling the lights means they are all having the same problems you are having. Again, you have "given up" on this product, and yet you have not even bothered to reach out for tech support to the manufacturer. One would think that would be your first stop.

I'm sorry, but this has user error written all over it.
