Hey Dwayne.
As everyone says,  beautiful tank.
Just wondering what you are using as the ledges on the back.  Can you throw in a close up picture of those?
Thanks

Thanks Dave, the ledges were bought at Macna in FL a few years back, cant remember the name of the company though, will find it for you. Next time I pull them for cleaning (bubble algae removal) I will snap a picture. The are held on by very strong tunze magnets, I love them. Not a big fan of eggcrate in my display if I can help it.

The tank is looking amazing!

Do you have a cover over your tank with all those Anthias in there?

Thanks man, I do not have a cover, I hate to clutter up the DT as I am Vain and want it to look as clean as possible, even the Vortechs make me crazy, been thinking of going back to tunzes if I can hide them well enough.
I know I SHOULD make a cover, I have lost hundreds of dollars in fish....... The list is long, powder blue, many wrasses including a supermale Rhomboid ..... SO maybe I should rethink this huh?

I was just curious. I didn't see one in the pics but saw all those nice Anthias, Chromis and Wrasses in there. I totally understand the whole clean look thing though as well. Especially, with a rimless tank.

I have most of the stuff to make the cover, misplaced the tool and the rubber insert stuff. Will have to buy it again

Waiting patiently for you and your camera to drop by  ;)
Better hurry Ive never gone this long without a disaster lol

Actually had a problem a week or so ago. I upgraded my Reef Keeper with the new software which demanded a hard reboot. When you do that you loose al your programming, what a pain. SO I re did everything with My Reef and all seemed good. When I came home from work the next day the entire system had shut down, including the heaters. Still had flow as the main pump and all vortechs are on separate power sources

With no heaters the tank had slipped to 72 degrees  :'(

I panicked, regrouped and slowly started to bring the temp up over the next 12 hrs. Fixed the RKE with lots of help from the forums and have been good ever since

I did get some STN on th ease of several pieces and I think the tank overall suffered a slight loss of colour but has bounced back nicely

So all in all not a disaster but close enough for my liking

I wouldnt think dipping down to 72 and back slowly would have much effect at all.  Do you think the STN could have been from something else?

Always a possibility. Haven't made any changes or added anything new for a while though. I have one piece still struggling along but everything else seems to be fine. Could have been much worse I suppose. Ill count my blessings.

In other news I have found a leak in my Frag tank acrylic sump. It is leaking approx a cup an hour so fairly significant

If anyone would like to extend their expertise in acrylic repair I sure would be in your debt. I have zero experience in this. Kind of know what Im supposed to do but need some help. I think I have to drain it and clean it, then dry it. Then I have to get some weld on of some sort and work it into the seams to stop the leak. Right?

Anyone know where I can get the weld on and what numbers I need?

If anyone is willing to come out and lend a hand I could compensate with frags :)

Call parker plastics in London for the weldon.  It should be pretty easy  but I havent used weldon and worked with acylic before so what do I know.  I would offer a hand but pretty busy this week.

I have some Weld-on that you can use. I'm not very experienced with acrylic repair though. I am going to be in London Thursday around 11am if you wanted to meet up then or come pick it up in New Hamburg in the evening.  Or Stratford during the day.

Weld on actually bonds the two pieces of acrylic together, if u get it dry and apply pressure to where ever its leaking, it will be stronger than the acrylic itself.. Supposedly  ;D

Thanks everyone, will call Glen at Parker to see how much we will be bending me over for a small bottle :)
Good guys but man are they expensive, have had a few jobs done by them for non marine stuff for Flagswipe.

So this is my plan.

1. turn everything off in tank which will cause the sump to fill up.
2. pump out the left chamber where the overflow fills up into a large holding tank I have
3. remove skimmer, reactors, and about 100lbs of rock from chamber
4. wash as best I can and suck out with shop vac or micro fibre cloths
5. add hair drier to dry and warm up the plastic, I assume this will help with bonding and will get all the moisture out
6. add a small bead of Weld on #4 on all suspicious areas and let dry one hour
7. add a bead f Weld on #16 its like silicone but supposed to use a very fine bead and let dry as long as possible 4-5 hrs overnight would be better but thats not likely to happen
8. replace everything, add water and hope my lack of DIY experience (and success) takes a turn for the better :)

Ill let you know how I make out !

Plan looks good. I know they use rubbing alcohol to dry out wet spots between glass panes before repairs. I am sure it would work on acrylic as well to get all the moisture out.

Its official, Weldon is harder to obtain than Diesel fuel and Nitrate :)

Good lord. No one in London sells it, apparently its a dangerous good and no one wants to carry it

I found a similar product to #4 so thats all I can do for now, no #16 to make sure it does not leak ever again.

Might try to order some online for any future problems or projects
