If its old aragonite that you were using in your other tank and brought over, I wouldn't have been worried so much with the dust, but the garbage, detritus, nitrates, phosphates etc. would have made your cycle time a lot longer... you made the right decision to start over IMO

you'll probably be happier and less worried about what's in the tank and substrate by starting over, that's what I would have done with a tank that size, and you've got plenty of assistance for water from the fellow members it's a great place to be ! Good luck !

If your planning on having any type of burrowing fish in there make sure your rock is touching the glass on the bottom. Or else one day that burrower may cause a rock slide from burrowing under the rocks.
