With my main tank being rebooted, time to get my daughters 's tank completed. Oddly enough, no filter and i've only done maybe 50% total water change, and have not had anything die! Go figure. I will be adding an aquatop internal filter, but I can't decide on lighting. Looking to maybe add a nem and a few torches, zoas, etc. Definitely no plans for sps. Should i go par38 w/gooseneck, 120w led (evergrow), or something smaller such as beamworks? All cost around $150ish. Anyone care to steer me towards any option?

Jeff check out 21ledusa.com see if they are priced in your range. My tank runs 2 48" reef bar pros with 2 sun setter timers. Also I found some links on one of my Eco rock sites that they have several customers that do not run any type of filtration other then good live rock, not even skimmers. So it is doable if you are willing.

And my 3 chromis and my one damsel seem to get along just fine

Forgot all about 21ledusa.com! Maybe they'll be cheaper than $150. I'm ok with that price, but just can't decide which style of led to go with. Given what is in the tank, might have to base decision on the aesthetics of the fixture!
I've also read tanks can be run with only liverock. Just surprised how well my daughter's is doing given the issues with my main tank. Got a bit of an "oil slick" on the surface. Going go get this filter, which will hopefully help with that issue.

Have owned two aquatop filters in the past and they're amazing!

Good eating for the tonga snails i guess. Too bad, as the shrimp had doubled in size since i got it in january, and was always cruising the tank. Not a recluse at all.

Speaking of tonga snails, anyone know where to get them? I got a pair when I bought clown from someone tearing down their tank. They bury themselves in the sand then rise up as soon as food hits the water. Would love to get a bunch for my main tank.
