Hello! I started my cycle almost 6 days ago with a table shrimp in my 14 gallon. I've been testing my water and everything seems to be moving along fast. I'm a little bit confused on when to remove the shrimp, replace it if need be and when how the ammonia is supposed to drop if there is a constant source(dead shrimp) in the tank? Thanks!

The ammonia will drop when the nitrifying bacteria can handle it. The nitrites will go through the roof. Then the nitrate will jump and nitrate will go to zero. Do a big water change once nitrite and ammonia are zero. Then you are done. I used api tests

as long as your ammonia turns to nitrite and nitrite turns to nitrate you are fine. the ammonia and nitrite will drop to zero once your bioload catches up and water changes will lower your nitrates. once your system gets stable there are super efficient ways to export nitrate but thats a while to come lol

I let the cycle take care of the shrimp. There was nothing left after 4-5 weeks and by that time my nitrates dropped down and cycle was done.

I used live rock second time around...

I didnt use anything and i just waited for like a few months i guess thats old school way lol no shrimp no fish ... just waited
